Crosscut Ventures
When Brian Garrett co-founded Crosscut Ventures in Los Angeles, it was one of the first venture firms in Southern California. While Silicon Valley was buzzing with capital and investment, Crosscut focused on powerhouse industries in the Los Angeles area, like media companies (Buzzfeed) and retail firms (Savage x Fenty). The company pivoted in 2024 from being a generalist firm to a specialized one that focused on deep tech. Hard tech was then a budding sector focused on manufacturing, energy and critical engineering. Today, Hard tech has exploded, accounting for the majority of venture dollars in Los Angeles and giving us companies spanning the aerospace, hardware, manufacturing and weapons industries. Recently, Crosscut has participated in Aalo Atomics’ $100 million Series B funding round.
