Sana Sarfraz is a software group manager at Miso Robotics, where she leads a team of six engineers across DevOps, Platforms, Perception, and Actuation to bring autonomous cooking technology to life. She serves as the lead engineer for the Vision and Perception system of Flippy, Miso’s flagship robotic fry station, designingthe intelligence that allows the robot to learn its environment, adjust its motion in real time, and identify food types with precision. Before her current manager joined, Sana also led the broader software organization at Miso Robotics, demonstrating the kind of quiet, steady leadership that keeps teams focused and products shipping.
Sarfraz’s impact has been quantifiable and swift. Since joining in September 2024, she led the delivery of the first third-generation Flippy Fry Stations, increased throughput by 30 percent, reduced robotic arm collisions by a factor of six, and streamlined the release process to double release frequency while cutting deployment time in half, all with a leaner team. These are not incremental improvements. They represent a fundamental transformation in how the product operates and how the engineering organization delivers.
What makes Sarfraz’s story especially compelling is the path she took to get here. In late 2023 her position was eliminated. In the months that followed, she simultaneously navigated the uncertainty of her immigration status in the United States, grieved the loss of her mother-in-law, and continued interviewing while volunteering her time to IEEE. She returned to the workforce not diminished but stronger, stepping into a senior leadership role and delivering exceptional results from day one.
