One thing is certain: there is always a need for innovation and leadership in the health-related business world. Be it independent practitioners, hospitals, health insurance, medical groups, pharmaceuticals, medical device, homecare, etc., there is always a need for the products, services and treatments afforded us by this evergreen industry and all its sectors. In fact, healthcare spending represents more than 17.5% of our gross domestic product. That puts a heightened amount of responsibility on the shoulders of those in charge.
Not only do these health leaders manage the institutions and organizations that help our society live healthier, they also happen to be tremendous businesspeople with great business stories.
Once again, this year, we have set aside this special section of the Los Angeles Business Journal to honor these individuals, organizations and programs that have made strides in helping Los Angeles (and beyond) receive better healthcare. We have chosen to recognize leaders and organizations that make an impact on both the frontlines of healthcare and those protecting the bottom lines.
This special section you are reading now spotlights those outstanding honorees we celebrated at our Health Care Leadership Forum & Awards event on Tuesday, May 15th at the City Club L.A. Eleven inspirational honorees were announced this year and described in this section.
