Smith was named dean of Loyola Marymount University’s college of business administration in 2018. Under her lead, the school has launched eight new graduate-level programs, including a doctoral program in business administration and master’s program in entertainment leadership and management. Smith previously helped bring the Business Innovation Zone, an incubator for students to collaborate and launch startups that also hosts workshops and conferences in the space, to LMU. Smith is president of the International Association of Jesuit Business Schools and is a board member of the Los Angeles Economic Development Corp. and World Trade Center Los Angeles. The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business’ Women Administrators in Management Education this year honored her with the Patricia M. Flynn Distinguished Woman Leader in Business Education Award. Prior to her role at LMU, she was the dean of the David D. Reh School of Business at Clarkson University. She was a Fulbright Scholar.
