It’s my distinct honor and privilege to present the annual Patrick Soon-Shiong Innovation Awards for 2017. With much admiration and respect for great ideas, we stand alongside Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, whose very name has become synonymous with groundbreaking innovation. This special award program was created with the vision to celebrate the organizations that continue to stretch boundaries. We recognize that LA’s tremendous stew of ingenuity, innovation, and creativity is what in many ways sparks the economic competitiveness of the region and brings a distinct and unique edge to our local economy. Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, himself has more than led by example, repeatedly illustrating how the innovative spirit can drive economic value. He also shares our desire to acknowledge and encourage innovation and has once again made the commitment to underwrite this prestigious award program. This year, the awards were handed out at a ceremony on November 16th at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, where we were also excited to host a halfday symposium that began with breakfast and progressed through a series of several terrific finalist speakers. Our attendees had an opportunity to be inspired by local innovators sharing their expertise on generating some of the great ideas coming out of Southern California. The evening portion of the event was highlighted by the Patrick Soon-Shiong Innovation Awards dinner, where we honored and acknowledged the people and organizations that continue to stretch the boundaries and have proven to be leaders in innovation. Congratulations to this year’s extraordinary nominees and finalists – each of whom continues to inspire us and provide invaluable contributions to keeping Los Angeles at the forefront of innovation.
