THE LATEST: In January, Rising stepped down as chief executive of Rising Realty but stayed on as chairman and a member of the firm's investment committee.

BACKGROUND: Rising is a 40-year real estate industry veteran who has overseen the development of some of the most iconic buildings in Los Angeles, including downtown's U.S. Bank Tower. He was previously president and chief executive of MPG Office Trust Inc., chief executive of Catellus Development Corp. and a senior partner at Maguire Thomas Partners. He sits on the boards of Caltech and the W.M. Keck Foundation. He also managed mayoral campaigns for former Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley.

WORTH NOTING: Rising once chaired the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.
