THE LATEST: Weinstein is the majority owner of MJW Investments' $500 million in real estate holdings and has recently led the firm's charge into student housing, including properties at Michigan State, Washington State, UC Santa Barbara and Texas Tech.
BACKGROUND: Weinstein founded MJW Investments, one of the 25 largest commercial real estate developers in Los Angeles County, in 1983. Since then, the firm has acquired about $1 billion of real estate holdings in all asset types. Weinstein served a three-year term as chairman of the Jewish Federation's Real Estate Construction Division and has active associations with the Young Presidents' Organization, and the Jewish Venture Philanthropy Fund.
WORTH NOTING: Weinstein was awarded the Urban Cowboy and Treasures of Los Angeles Award for leading Downtown Renaissance by the Central City Association.
