Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co. on Friday said that it has acquired the outstanding capital stock of Lampros Steel Inc. and a related interest in Lampros Steel Plate Distribution LLC, both of Portland, Ore.
The Los Angeles company, which is largest metals service center company in North America, said that Lampros Steel is a similar company specializing in structural steel shapes. Lampros Steel Plate owns a 50 percent interest in a partnership, LSI Plate, that distributes carbon steel plate and has locations in California and Oregon.
Financial terms were not disclosed. Lampros will operate under its current name as a subsidiary of American Metals Corp., wholly owned by Reliance. Current management will remain in place with Milt Lampros as president. The company was founded in 1983 by Milt and Marcus Lampros and the partnership was founded in 1999. The combined revenue of Lampros Steel and LSI Plate last year was $29 million.
“Lampros has a strong reputation for customer service in the Pacific Northwest area and will complement our network of facilities,” Reliance Chief Executive David H. Hannah said in a statement.
Shares were down 56 cents, or 1 percent, to $48.77 in midday trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
