James Gunn, an award-winning writer and producer, has led DC Studios in Burbank with business partner Peter Safran since November 2022. Throughout his career, Gunn has produced some of the most popular movies of the last few decades, including Warner Bros. Discovery’s “Scooby-Doo” and “Scooby-Doo 2,” Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise, DC’s “The Suicide Squad” and “Peacemaker.” Gunn was the first filmmaker to direct movies for both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the DC Universe when he directed the 2021 comic-adaptation movie “The Suicide Squad.” His 2025 project “Superman” grossed $618 million worldwide.
