President, Chief Executive
J. Paul Getty Trust
Katherine Fleming leads the J. Paul Getty Trust, one of the world’s wealthiest cultural institutions, with a $9 billion endowment and over 1,400 employees. She took on her role in August 2022 after serving six years as provost of New York University. Under her leadership, the Getty launched PST ART: Art and Science Collide, an initiative involving 70 Southern California institutions. When the Pacific Palisades Fire approached the Westside, Fleming’s protocols and response to safeguard the Getty Villa gained praise for its resilience in defending the museum. She holds positions on the Administrative Board of the Chancellerie des Universités de Paris; she’s also an elected member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a Chevalier in the French Legion of Honor.
