Eanes began her tenure as the president of Cal State Los Angeles in 2024 as the first Black woman to take on the role. She previously served as the vice president for student affairs at California State University, Fullerton between 2012 and 2019 before a brief stint as the president of York College at the City University of New York, where she managed a $91 million budget of fundraising, endowments and a slew of other resources. A few months after her appointment as president, she was elected to serve on the board of directors of the Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities for the 2024-2026 term. Cal State Los Angeles is considered an “anchor institution” of the coalition, which has more than 115 members across four countries.
