City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte maintains significant scale, quality and community impact as a leading destination for highly specialized cancer care. As City of Hope’s clinical and research hub, the Duarte hospital brings discovery, treatment, supportive care and patient services together on one campus, helping translate scientific advances into lifesaving care for patients across Southern California and beyond.
The campus integrates advanced cancer treatment, research, manufacturing and whole-person care in one setting. With 217 licensed inpatient beds, City of Hope National Medical Center anchors the organization’s Southern California network while keeping its Duarte hospital at the center of the clinical mission. Its oncology infrastructure includes linear accelerators, operating rooms, procedure suites, infusion capacity and the Center for Biomedicine & Genetics, which supports the development of GMP-grade, pharmaceutical-quality materials for clinical trials and novel therapies.
The medical center’s impact is reflected in the depth of its innovation. In FY25, City of Hope supported more than 730 clinical trials and studies, with Duarte serving as a central site for advancing research into patient care. The hospital is home to one of the nation’s largest bone marrow transplantation and cellular therapy programs, with more than 20,000 bone marrow transplants performed and more than 2,000 patients treated through immune effector cell therapies, including CAR T cell therapy.
The center’s supportive care program is recognized as a national model, with evidence-based services woven into patient care to address pain, symptoms, nutrition, emotional health, spiritual care, family needs and quality of life throughout the cancer journey.
