The author of two books on employee benefits law, David McFarlane is the lawyer companies turn to for high-level guidance on the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), health care reform law, and employee benefits. A partner in Crowell & Moring’s Los Angeles office, McFarlane has more than 20 years of experience in the U.S. and Canada advising on wide-range of pensions, employee benefits, and executive compensation matters related to ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, and the Affordable Care Act.
In reaction to the very recent and wide-spread workplace sexual harassment scandals, McFarlane and his ERISA team developed and designed the first-in-the-nation employer-funded “Workplace Harassment Prevention and Protection Plan” to help employers better combat and remedy the growing workplace and societal problem of workplace harassment and bullying. A longtime legal advocate in Los Angeles, David is the former co-president of the LGBT Bar Association of Los Angeles, served on the LGBT Advisory Committee for the Mayor of Los Angeles and was chairman of the board of directors for the AIDS Service Center in Pasadena.
