THE LATEST: Under Allen, leader of the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp. since 2005, the organization has turned its focus to the Center for a Competitive Workforce — a collaboration between LAEDC, the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce and the Los Angeles/Orange County Center of Excellence for Labor Market Research. The center has teamed with 19 community colleges to provide labor market research and to work with employers in the area to help develop curriculum to ensure students are prepared for the job market.
BACKGROUND: Allen also leads World Trade Center Los Angeles, a subsidiary of LAEDC. In addition, he serves as co-chairman of the California Stewardship Network and as vice chairman of the Economic Alliance of the San Fernando Valley.
WORTH NOTING: Allen was previously president of MTM Television. He also owns Meadowland Enterprises Inc., which licenses classic TV shows, and music publisher Meadowland Music Inc.
