Snapchat’s Money VP Leaves

Snapchat’s squad of revenue-generating experts is suddenly one person short.

Mike Randall, the Venice app’s vice president of business and marketing partnerships, has left the company after just seven months.

“We thank Mike for his many contributions and we wish him well in the future,” Snapchat said in a statement. Randall, in a statement provided by the company, added, “I wish the team all the best.”

Randall previously spent four years as global director of Facebook’s preferred marketing developer program, which helps brands analyze ad campaigns launched on the social network. He joined Snapchat last June right when the ephemeral messaging app released its communal posting feature Our Story, which marked the first piece of its monetization plan.

Snapchat quickly followed up with its first ads and the launch of its mobile payments service Snapcash. The company then rang in the New Year by closing a funding round that valued the company at $10 billion, revealing just how much money is riding on the company’s aggressive pursuit of revenue.

No replacement has been named, according to a Snapchat spokeswoman, who declined to comment further. Chief Executive Evan Spiegel has focused on filling his C-suite with business veterans with proven track records of making money. That includes the hires of Emily White, who ran Facebook-owed Instagram’s ad operations, as chief operating officer and Wall Street banker Imran Khan as chief strategy officer.
