President, Chief Executive
Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals
Late last year, Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals, led by longtime Chief Executive Christopher Anzalone, shifted from a drug development firm to a fully integrated pharmaceutical company, following the first-ever FDA approval of its Redemplo drug to treat a rare condition that is linked to frequent, severe pancreatitis attacks. The Pasadena-based company also received significant milestone payments from previous licensing deals. Shareholders celebrated, causing shares to quintuple over the past year. Anzalone has been president and chief executive of Arrowhead since 2007. The company develops drugs using an RNA platform that silences genes involved in cardiometabolic and other diseases. After its most promising drug failed to gain FDA approval in 2016, Anzalone led a revamp of the company’s platform.
