LA500 2026: Vinson Allen

Vinson Allen

Owner and Founder
Dusk to Dawn Urgent Care

Vinson Allen founded Dusk to Dawn, one of the country’s few Black-owned urgent care centers, serving over 21,000 patients annually across five Southern California locations, with a focus on underserved communities. Allen, a seasoned emergency room doctor at the former Martin Luther King Jr. Medical Center in Willowbrook, started Dusk to Dawn Urgent Care in 2001 in Paramount. The chain expanded to six locations before the pandemic forced half of them to close. Growth picked up again in 2024 with new sites in Lancaster and San Diego. Allen has also increased programs to train health care professionals. In 2024, he was awarded the California NAACP Humanitarian of the Year, and last December, he was named Doctor of the Year by Ebony Magazine.
