Skip Miller, managing partner of Miller Barondess, is a trial lawyer with 45 years of experience. His clients have included municipalities such as the cities of Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Pasadena and Monterey Park; entertainers such as Rod Stewart, Elton John, Nick Nolte, Bob Dylan, Sean Connery, Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Guns N’ Roses’ Axl Rose; manufacturing companies; financial institutions; movie studios; sports agents; and professional athletes. Miller is representing the County of Los Angeles in litigation over the Aliso Canyon natural-gas leak. He also defended the City of Los Angeles in the Rodney King civil-rights damages action in 1994, and won a $7 million judgment against musician Michael Jackson in a jury trial in Santa Maria in 2003. Miller is the former chairman of the D.A.R.E. America drug, violence and alcohol abuse and education program. The 1972 graduate of UCLA Law School clerked for U.S. District Court Judge Jesse W. Curtis.
What was your proudest moment?
When I married Sherry Miller, 49 years ago, and we started a family and had two sons, Danny and Jimmy, both of whom are my law partners.
What is your alma mater?
I attended UCLA Law School after graduating from University of Denver Undergrad (I followed my high school sweetheart, Sherry, to Denver).
What is your next project?
I am very excited about trying a big case against Toyota Motor.
Who is your hero?
My Dad. He was a good, honest, hard-working man.
What do you like best about Los Angeles?
I like living in our beautiful home in the Pacific Palisades and working with super smart lawyers.
