Hydra Acquired by Adknowledge

Hydra, a Los Angeles company that operates an Internet cost-per-acquisition affiliate advertising network, on Monday said that it was acquired by a Kansas City, Mo., company named Adknowledge.

Adknowledge said the deal would make it the largest affiliate network measured by the number of its cost-per-click and cost-per-acquisition offers. It plans to retain Hydra’s brand for now and operate it along its Adstation brand. Terms of the deal were not disclosed and the companies did not announce how the acquisition would affect local operations.

The acquisition comes six months after a major restructuring by Hydra in which Chief Executive Zac Brandenberg, a company founder, took control of the firm with a group of investors.

“Since Hydra’s launch, we have delivered millions of new customers to clients like AARP and Kraft, and helped thousands of premium publishers financially benefit from their promotion of these campaigns to their audiences,” Brandenberg said in a statement. “The result is we’ve built an incredibly healthy advertiser and affiliate marketplace that will increase in scale dramatically as we now join forces with Adknowledge.”
