THE MONEY:
Nathanson jumpstarted his fortune in 1999 when he sold Falcon Communications to Charter Communications for $3.7 billion. He then went on to found Mapleton Investments. The Beverly Hills-based company’s investment arm, Mapleton Properties, has a portfolio valued at more than $571 million. The company owns properties throughout the Western United States and has more than 3.2 million square feet under management. Mapleton Properties has more than 295,000 square feet of assets under renovation or construction.
THE BUZZ:
Last year, Nathanson joined the board of Trine Acquisition Corp., a blank-check company. He founded the Nathanson Family Resilience Center at UCLA Medical and is the vice chairman at the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs. He also serves on the national finance committee for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden. Nathanson is an avid art collector. His wife, Jane, is a trustee for the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
