The International Longshore and Warehouse Union, Local 63, ended a two-day job action at the APL Terminal at the Port of Los Angeles on Saturday.
“The APL terminal was closed Friday and part of Saturday,” said POLA spokesman Phillip Sanfield. He would not provide further comment on the issue saying that the port tended to stay out of labor negotiations between terminal operators and its employees.
A report in the Journal of Commerce said that the ILWU was seeking to double the wages of the supervisors to almost $150,000 a year and also sought to increase the number of supervisors to 10 from six.
The ILWU is expected to send out a press release detailing more information later today, a spokesperson for the union said.
