Lakers legend and entrepreneur Magic Johnson hopes to help put Los Angeles over the top by joining the effort to bring the 2024 Olympics to town, the Los Angeles Times reports.

He was named as a vice chair Wednesday to the LA 2024 committee, along with labor leader Maria Elena Durazo.

Johnson is also a former Olympian, having played for the 1992 United States Olympic basketball team that won a gold medal in Barcelona.
