Is Disney Looking for an Even Larger Stake in Hulu?

A Hollywood Reporter story suggests that Walt Disney Co. could be looking to acquire an even larger stake in streaming service Hulu. For years Hulu operated as a joint venture between Disney, Fox and NBCUniversal Media. Disney now owns a 60 percent in the streamer following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox. Industry observers say Disney may be looking to acquire another 30 percent stake in Hulu from Comcast, which is owned by NBCUniversal.

GLAAD Awards Queer Representation in Video Games

Video games which demonstrate exceptional LGBTQ representation will now be eligible for a GLAAD award, GameInformer reports. In the 30-year history of the GLAAD Awards, this is the first time that video games have been considered, and GLAAD said in a statement it seeks to recognize games produced in 2018 that prioritize “interactive experience that includes authentic and impactful LGBTQ characters or storylines.” Assessment “will take into consideration the degree to which the LGBTQ-inclusive content is effectively woven into gameplay, including player agency and the world itself.”

H Code Launches Digital Marketing Products

Hispanic-focused digital advertising firm H Code, based in Santa Monica, announced Sept. 27 a new product called “Tastemakers,” which provides “fully integrated” marketing and digital media tools to help brands better each and communicate with Hispanic audiences. In August, H Code signed a partnership agreement with strategic partnership with Metro LATAM, a Latino-focused division of media publisher Metro International S.A., which gave H Code access to Metro LATAM ad inventory across all its global and local news sites.
