SpaceX Lands $97 Million NASA Contract

NASA selected Hawthorne-based SpaceX to launch its Sentinel 6-A mission into space, the agency said in a press release. SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket will carry the Sentinel 6-A satellite in a launch scheduled for November 2020. The Sentinel 6-A program is headquartered at NASA’a Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena.

Newhall Ranch Pitches for Amazon

FivePoint Holdings’ proposed Newhall Ranch development in the Santa Clarita Valley is among the Los Angeles County sites forwarded to Amazon.com Inc. as a possible second headquarters for the Seattle-based e-commerce behemoth, the San Fernando Valley Business Journal reports.

Musk’s Boring Co. Gets Maryland Tunneling Approval

Elon Musk’s experimental tunneling project Boring Co. of Hawthorne received approval to dig in Maryland, the Los Angeles Times reports. The company will tunnel 10.3 miles underneath a state-owned portion of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.
