Bird Raises $100 Million in Series B

Santa Monica-based Bird, an electric vehicle sharing company, announced a $100 million Series B funding round, the Business Journal reports. Valor Equity and Index Ventures were the primary investors, while Craft Ventures and Goldcrest increased their existing investments.

On March 8, 14,500 job seekers attended the second annual Tech Fair LA at the Reef in Downtown Los Angeles. the Business Journal reports. The event was created and hosted by Comparably CEO Jason Nazar, in partnership with Mayor Garcetti and the Annenberg Foundation. Attendees had the opportunity to meet 250 companies, including SpaceX, Zip Recruiter, GOAT, YouTube and Lyft.

Upfront Ventures Adds Term-Sheet Clause to Encourage Diversity

Los Angeles-based venture capital investor Upfront Ventures said this week that it is including a new clause in its term sheets to companies which asks them to formally require that a woman, or a “member of a population currently underrepresented within the company” be interviewed any time there is an open executive position at the startup, NWinnovation reports. According to Upfront’s Mark Suster, the VC firm has open sourced the legal language it has been inserting into its term sheets, in hopes that other venture capital firms will also adopt those requirements in their own investment offers.
