Mayor Garcetti Plans Tech Jobs for L.A.’s Youth
Mayor Eric Garcetti announced on Tuesday that he will be partnering with the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce’s Bixel Exchange to launch the L.A. Tech Talent Pipeline, a component of HIRE-LA’s YOUTH program. The pipeline, which will offer resume-building and networking skills, will begin this summer and is expected to place at least 100 young adults in technology jobs.
Insurance Mobile App Sure Raises $8 Million
Personal insurance startup Sure has raised $8 million in a Series A funding round led by IA Capital, SoCalTech reports. The Los Angeles and New York-based company plans to offer flight, baggage, smartphone, renters, pet and wedding insurance on-demand to users via a mobile app. The company plans to use its funding towards product development, user acquisition, marketing and hiring.
Computer Software Company Datum Security Acquired By Prevalent
Altadena-based Datum Security, which offers third-party risk validation for small and mid-size businesses, has been acquired by New Jersey-based Prevalent, the companies announced on Tuesday. Prevalent helps global organizations manage and monitor security threats from third party vendors. The terms of the acquisition deal were not disclosed.
