Hulu, Disney acquire Lions Gate rights; Immortals acquires Infinite Sports & Entertainment; Scoot scooped up by Bird
Immortals Purchases Infinite Esports & Entertainment
Culver City-based esports venture Immortals Gaming Club acquired Infinite Esports & Entertainment for an undisclosed sum June 12. The deal gives Immortals the OpTic Gaming brand, which is a subsidiary of Infinite Esports. The Business Journal reported Immortals raised $30 million from venture investors in May.
Disney, Hulu Link With Lions Gate
Santa Monica headquartered Hulu, which is owned by Burbank-based Walt Disney Co., announced today it bought the rights to show Lions Gate movies released from 2020-2021. The rights to Lions Gate film showings were previously held by MGM’s TV channel Epix, Variety reports. Neither party disclosed how much Hulu and Disney paid for the rights.
Santa Monica-based Bird Rides Inc. announced June 12 it would acquire San Francisco-based shared electric vehicle firm and competitor, Scoot Networks Inc. Scoot will operate under its existing brand name as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bird, the Business Journal reports.
