A Texas company has acquired GoTV Networks, which makes mobile apps that distribute media content for clients that include the NFL and TV network ESPN, Univision, and Oprah Winfrey’s OWN.
GoTV of Sherman Oaks, which also has offices in San Francisco and San Diego, makes feature-rich smart apps that enable content distribution to large audiences. Phunware of Austin has a portfolio of more than 150 mobile apps in four languages and are distributed in more than 100 countries
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. GoTV has funding from Bessemer Venture Partners, Charles River Ventures and Motorola.
“Through this acquisition, we have accelerated our operational growth, strengthened our financial position and achieved critical mass on a global scale, including an array of customers and brands unparalleled in the industry,” Phunware Chief Executive Alan Knitowski said in a statement.
