Derycz Scientific, a distributor of medical and technical articles online, has hired Alan Urban as its chief financial officer.

Urban has served as an advisor to the company since 2010. He previously worked as vice-president of finance at Infotrieve, a company founded by Peter Derycz in 1989 and sold to a private equity firm in 2003. Peter Derycz started Derycz Scientific in 2006.

In a statement, Urban said his aim is “to increase shareholder value as we continue to pioneer breakthroughs in the information logistics industry.”

The company announced Urban’s hiring after the close of stock markets on Wednesday. On the over-the-counter market, shares of Derycz Scientific closed at $1.30, unchanged for the day.
