Burkle to Leave Yahoo Board

Yahoo Inc. said investor Ron Burkle will leave the Internet company’s board after the next annual stockholders’ meeting in order to devote more time to his other business interests.

Burkle, who heads the buyout firm Yucaipa Cos., has had a seat on Yahoo’s board since November 2001.

Burkle fired a salvo at the management of Barnes & Noble Inc. at the beginning of this month, saying he wanted to essentially double his stake in the bookseller to match the Riggio family’s 37 percent. He criticized that company’s corporate governance.
