The international maritime industry leader and an attorney for more
than three decades has headed up one of the country’s busiest ports
since 2017. He oversees a staff of more than 500 with a budget of
$622 million. Long Beach had a container processing decline of nearly
32% last February as trade continues to normalize after record-breaking
numbers last year. Cordero said investment in infrastructure projects
“will keep us competitive as we collaborate with industry stakeholders
to focus on trade volume.” In 2011 he was appointed to the
Federal Maritime Commission by President Barack Obama.
