Everytable Finds Win in Compton

Everytable PBC expands collaboration with L.A. County school districts after big win in Compton.

City of Industry-based ready meals chain Everytable PBC is expanding its collaboration with K-12 school districts across L.A. County following a successful run with the Compton Unified School District.

New collaborators include the school districts of Palos Verdes Peninsula and Azusa unified, Bright Star Charter Schools and Ednovate Charter Schools. Outside of Los Angeles, Everytable has landed deals with the Monterey County Office of Education and Moreno Valley Unified school district, according to Chief Executive Sam Polk.

“Everytable partners with school districts, including Compton, to really offer an incredible deal that is really impossible to say no to,” Polk said. “We can help keep your kids healthier, we can save you money on labor and the kids will love it, that’s when we win.”

The collaborations are part of an ongoing effort from Everytable to tap into the $1.8 billion state-funded market of universal school meals. Operating out of a 40,000-square-foot central production kitchen that distributes “scratch-cooked meals” to 38 stores, the company aims to provide students, teachers and school administrators fresh food at a lower price with the same supply chain.

The deals now include bulk components besides ready meals.

“Everytable has a suite of offerings for school districts that solve whatever problems they are dealing with in a way specific to them,” Polk said.

Compton: First collaboration

Everytable – which in September relocated its headquarters from Vernon to City of Industry – opened its first store in Compton in 2018. To date, the company has sold 540,000 meals across Compton Unified School District and Compton College.

“This partnership did not begin at the district level,” said Micah Ali, who serves as president of the Compton Unified School District Board of Trustees. “It started in the Compton community.”

Ali added: “Today, our scholars and teachers have access to healthy, scratch-cooked meals delivered daily by our good friends over at Everytable, and the impact is tangible. It supports our desire to focus as a system. It supports wellness, and it supports the belief that excellence belongs right here in Compton.”

During the federal government shutdown that lasted over 40 days, Everytable partnered with Compton College to provide two meals a day for students receiving SNAP benefits. Going forward, Everytable is looking to strengthen its presence in Southern California, the San Francisco Bay Area, Las Vegas and Phoenix.
