NET WORTH: $5.1 billion, up 50 percent

LAST YEAR: $3.4 billion

AGE: 76

SOURCE OF WEALTH: Real estate, development

THE MONEY: Despite dim prospects for an NFL stadium on his land in Industry, the chairman and chief executive of Majestic Realty had good year. His industrial real estate holdings jumped in value. As a minority owner of the Lakers, he saw the team’s value spike with the sale of the Clippers.

BUZZ: Roski proposed an NFL stadium in City of Industry in 2008, but has had no conversations with the league in more than year. Competitors in Carson and Inglewood are moving ahead, and his site seems destined to live as industrial park. Roski owns more than 70 million square feet of real estate, the vast majority in the hot Southern California industrial market. He bought into the Los Angeles Kings in ’95 and Lakers in ’98 and owns a stake in Staples Center, all of which appreciated in the last year. A USC graduate, he joined the family real estate business in 1966 after tour with Marine Corps in Vietnam.
