Bank Branch: Opus Bank, an Irvine-based institution with branches in California and Washington state, is opening an outpost in West Los Angeles. The new branch will be at 12301 Wilshire Blvd.

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES

Name Change: People’s Liberation Inc., a downtown L.A. apparel maker known for its high-price jeans, has change its name to Sequential Brands Group Inc.; the company’s common stock will now trade over the counter as SQBG. The name change comes as part of a refocus on brand management and licensing as opposed to manufacturing.

Equity Investment: DTT Surveillance, a downtown L.A. provider of surveillance services to the hospitality and restaurant industries, has received an equity investment of an undisclosed amount from BV Investment Partners, a Boston private-equity firm. The BV representatives will join DTT’s board as part of the deal.

KOREATOWN

Apartments Bought: Oxford 511 Avenue LLC has acquired a 59-unit multifamily building in Koreatown for $6.11 million from Dobson Meadows Partnership GP. The property, at 511-521 S. Oxford Ave. and known as the Oxford Club Apartments, includes 47 studios and 12 one-bed and one-bathroom units. The sale included an adjoining parcel, used as a parking lot, totaling 8,250 square feet.

SOUTH BAY

SAN PEDRO

Drifting Over: Catalina Express, a San Pedro ferry company providing transportation to Santa Catalina Island from four Southern California ports, is moving its San Pedro passenger terminal to a new facility at the port. The new facility is scheduled to be open this summer.

COMPTON

Furniture Deal: Executive Office Concepts, a Compton furniture maker that specializes in the health care and office markets, has been acquired by Chromcraft Revington Inc., a furniture company in West Lafayette, Ind. Executive Office Concepts founder and Chief Executive Richard L. Sinclair will serve as a consultant to Chromcraft Revington. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

PASADENA

Brick-and-Mortar: PureGear, an Irwindale-based maker of accessories for mobile devices that launched in September 2010, has opened its first brick-and-mortar store at 1715 E. Colorado Blvd. in Pasadena.
