Richard Kayne is the founder and chairman of Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors, a Los Angeles-based manager of alternative investment strategies. The firm serves a distinguished client list of institutions, endowments, foundations, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals. Kayne founded the company in 1984. It specializes in oil and gas, energy infrastructure, credit, specialty real estate, growth private equity, and marketable securities. The firm is the largest investor in energy pipelines in the United States. Kayne also founded Kayne Anderson Rudnick, a traditional investment management firm. Kayne grew that firm to more than $10 billion in assets under management and sold it in 2001 to Phoenix Cos.
