What’s your summer reading?

I am actually reading a combination of things, but mostly books related to Italian food and wine, two of my biggest passions in life. Some are cookbooks and some are more about the history of a particular region in Italy.

My summer reading is similar to my year-round reading. Right now I am in the middle of “Give Smart: Philanthropy That Gets Results” and “The Science of Social 2” for work, and I am about to start reading “Americanah.”

I’m an avid reader, so this summer you’ll find me reading Sophia Amoruso’s “#Girlboss,” because I am motivated by other successful female entrepreneurs, as well as “Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption” by Laura Hillenbrand. A mix of work-related and nonfiction stories always piques my interest.

Summer reading, or any time of year reading, usually consists of business books. I’m always reading and researching new ways to help the business grow.

A group of friends and I meet once a month for a book club at a café. We take turns choosing a book that everyone will read for that month. So far we’ve read “Stumbling on Happiness” by Daniel Gilbert, “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho, “The Gift of Imperfection” by Brene Brown and “How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie, among others.

My summer reading is work related. I am currently reading “The Hard Thing About Hard Things” by Ben Horowitz. It is a great guide for entrepreneurs from someone who has seen and done it all.

I’ve been reading two books this summer: “Yves Saint Laurent” by Florence Chenoune and Farid Muller. The second book is “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” by Rebecca Skloot. I don’t think I could have chosen two books that are more different from one another.
