Robert Gluck has been named airport manager at L.A./Palmdale Regional Airport. Gluck was most recently airport maintenance superintendent at LA/Ontario International Airport.



Art


The Los Angeles County Museum of Art has hired Charlotte Cotton as department head and curator of photography, and Barbara Pflaumer as associate vice president of press relations. Before joining LACMA, Cotton served as the head of programming at Photographers’ Gallery in London. Pflaumer was formerly a consultant at Enterprise Management in Encino.



Banking & Finance


FirstFed Financial Corp., the parent holding company of First Federal Bank of California, has elected Gisselle Acevedo to the board. Acevedo is president and chief executive of Para Los Ni & #324;os, a non-profit family service organization designed to bring children of Los Angeles’ most challenging communities out of poverty.


Mercanti Group, an investment banking firm, has appointed Brian Wood as director and Eric Groman as principal. Wood was formerly senior vice president of Seidler Capital, a Los Angeles-based financial services firm. Groman was most recently vice president of Seidler Capital.



Design


Palladeo, a design, brand marketing, d & #233;cor and specialty fixture fabricator headquartered in Glendale, has named Tom Coleman as operations director for Palladeo Create, the company’s manufacturing hub for custom development of specialty fixtures and d & #233;cor products. Coleman was formerly operations manager for Palladeo Construct, the company’s retail construction management and general construction division.


Carlos Ortega has been hired as project development manager at BRC Imagination Arts, a design and production company for museums, visitor centers and cultural heritage sites. Ortega was formerly the collections manager and registrar of the Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach.



Entertainment


Karen Davis has joined Azteca America, a Hispanic television network, as executive vice president of marketing. Most recently, Davis ran the Meadows Group, a consulting firm specializing in startup television and new media ventures.



Government


Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has appointed Mitchell L. Beckloff of Santa Monica, Edmund Willcox Clarke Jr. of Manhattan Beach, Graciela L. Freixes of Valencia, David B. Gelfound of Simi Valley, John H. Ing of Rancho Palos Verdes and Kathryn A. Solorzano of Los Angeles to judgeships in the Los Angeles County Superior Court. Beckloff was a commissioner for the Los Angeles County Superior Court. Clark was a partner with the law firm Stark & Clark. Freixes was a commissioner for Los Angeles County Superior Court. Gelfound was a deputy district attorney with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. Ing was a commissioner for the Los Angeles County Superior Court. Solorzano was deputy district attorney for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.



Hospitality


Millennium Hotels and Resorts has hired Jeffrey Guillory as director of sales and marketing for the Millennium Biltmore in Los Angeles. Prior to joining the Millennium, Guillory held the same position at the InterContinental Hotel in Miami.



Insurance


Wells Fargo Insurance Services has named Bill Holden as managing director and Terri Peckinpaugh as vice president. Holden was formerly executive vice president for USI of Southern California Insurance Services. Peckinpaugh was vice president of C. M. Meiers Co., an insurance brokerage in California.



Law


Buchalter Nemer, a business law firm, has added John L. Hosack and Lawrence B. Steinberg as shareholders in the Los Angeles office. Hosack was most recently with Jeffer Mangels Butler and Marmoro. Steinberg was previously with Gilchrist and Rutter.


Bryan Cave LLP, an international law firm, has named Paul Tauger and Patricia Wyrod as counsel in the firm’s Santa Monica office. Tauger was most recently with Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP in San Francisco. Wyrod joins Bryan Cave from her own firm in Silicon Valley.



Marketing


Channel M, a media and marketing company, has hired Chris Gayton as vice president of marketing. Gayton was formerly senior director of media and promotions for Gap Inc./Old Navy in San Francisco.



Media


Elizabeth Turner has been named editor in chief of Vegetarian Times, a monthly health magazine. Turner was formerly managing editor of Natural Health magazine.



Non-Profit


L.A. Inc., the Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau, has hired Larry Fleischman as district manager of visitor information centers. Fleischman was previously district manager of Peet’s Coffee & Tea.


The Aerospace Corp., an El Segundo-based non-profit company that provides technical analyses and assessments for national security space programs, has appointed Peter J. Carian as a distinguished engineer and James D. Barrie and Michael J. Meshisnek as distinguished scientists. Carian is the company’s chief troubleshooter for problems with space-quality analog circuits and power converters. Barrie provides technical advice to customers on thin film materials and optical coatings. Meshishnek provides technical advice to customers on the effects of the space environment on materials.



Public Relations


Kathleen Flood has joined MWW Group as vice president in the Los Angeles office. Flood was most recently the owner of Flood Communications Group, a public relations consultancy that served corporate real estate clients.



Real Estate


Westside Estate Agency has named Amy Alcini as director of sales and Shirley Sherman as an associate. Both Alcini and Sherman were associates at Sotheby’s International Realty in Malibu.


Reid McGlamery has joined Jones Lang LaSalle, a real estate money management and services firm, as vice president in the real estate investment banking unit in the Century City office. Previously, McGlamery was associate director at Holliday Fenoglio Fowler LP, a mortgage banking firm.



Shipping


Roger Wu has been named marketing manager in the trade relations division of the Port of Long Beach. Wu was formerly a sales representative at NYK Line, a shipping company.



Technology


Steve Westly has been appointed to the board of AltraBiofuels, Inc., a California-based developer of renewable biofuels. Westly was formerly California State Controller.


Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems has named Kurt M. Kutyla as vice president of contracts and Travis H. Slocumb III as vice president of strategy and business development. Kutyla was previously director of contracts at Raytheon Missile Systems. Slocumb was formerly senior vice president of business development at Science Applications International Corp.
