Richard “Les” Thompson has been named president of Burbank-based Janco Corp. He joined Janco in 1986; previously, he was vice president of administration and accounting at Arco Energy Corp.

Advertising

Stephen Klippenstein and Cari Abraham have been named senior art directors at Creative Domain Design, a new division of Creative Domain. Most recently, Klippenstein was creative director with Dazu Advertising. Abraham also comes from Dazu, where she was senior art director.

Julie Kim has joined the Manhattan Beach office of Hal Apple Design as director of account services. She will be responsible for project management and marketing strategies for new clients. Previously, Kim was involved in marketing and research at L.A.-based Smartalk. Also, Robert Michaelian is joining as director of Internet services.

Banking

Edward Stokx has been appointed vice president and controller of Manhattan Beach-based Center Trust. He has served as controller for the company since October 1997. Previously, Stokx was with Deloitte & Touche LLP as senior manager in the company’s real estate services group.

Consulting

Byron Davis has been appointed director of the business development center for the Southern California and Nevada market at Deloitte & Touche LLP. Previously, Davis spent seven years with Dun & Bradstreet in various sales management positions. Also, Dan Ducommun has been named marketing director for Deloitte & Touche’s Western region. Previously, he served in a variety of sales and marketing positions for the electrical wholesale distribution market.

Bradford H. Taft has been named senior vice president of Right Management Consultants Inc. He will be responsible for marketing and account management in the firm’s Southern California region.

Les Whitney has joined the Sherman Oaks office of Management Action Programs as an executive consultant. He will specialize in strategic management and business operation improvement. Prior to joining MAP, Whitney was president of TacStar Industries and Pachmayr Ltd.

Food and Beverage

Robert W. Townsend has been named president and chief executive of L.A.-based Copeland Beverage Group Inc. Most recently, he was head of RWT Associates LLC, a management consulting firm specializing in the food industry. Prior to forming his own company, Townsend spent 40 years with Knudsen Corp.

Entertainment

Alix Eglis has joined the production team at 525 Studios as visual effects producer. Previously, Eglis worked in post production for both VSC Post/Manhattan Transfer and Limelight Video. Her most recent position was with Pacific Ocean Post in Santa Monica as senior visual effects producer.

Catherine Finkenstaedt has been named executive producer of A Band Apart Music Videos. She will be in charge of music video production and oversee projects through the company’s Los Angeles and New York offices. Most recently, Finkenstaedt was executive producer/head of production for Squeak Pictures.

Andy Lassner has been named senior vice president of production at King World Productions Inc. Most recently, Lassner was supervising producer of “The Rosie O’Donnell Show.”

Dominique Luchart has joined Hollywood-based Soundelux Entertainment Group as vice president of creative and marketing services. Prior to joining SEG, Luchart developed and produced commercials at WindHorse Entertainment. Also, Cynthia Silorey has been named vice president of sales at SEG. She will be responsible for building the company’s internal sales department. Previously, Silorey was director of new business development at Weddington Productions.

Bill Simon has been named chief financial officer at Dick Clark Productions. He will continue in his positions as vice president of finance and treasurer. Previously, Simon was a senior auditor with KPMG Peat Marwick.

Michael Winter has been appointed vice president of creative affairs and acquisitions at Castle Hill Productions. He will help increase the company’s theatrical output from eight to 10 features acquired and distributed each year. Winter was previously a founder and producer with Falstaff Presents in New York.

Health Care

Helen DuPlessis has joined L.A. Care Health Plan as associate medical director. She will oversee administrative and operational issues relating to quality assurance and improvement. Prior to joining L.A. Care, DuPlessis was director of student medical services for the L.A. Unified School District.

Law

Edwin K. Marzec has joined the Los Angeles office of Arter & Hadden LLP. He will practice in the area of governmental relations as well as commercial law, domestic and international taxation and corporate matters. Previously, Marzec was active in management and administration at Bradford & Marzec.

Media

Fred Koplin has been appointed group publisher for the Petersen Cos.’ motorcycle/action sports group. He will head up all advertising sales for the division. Previously, Koplin was senior partner and account group director at Bozell Worldwide. Also, Richard P. Lague has been promoted to president of the motorcycle/action sports group. Lague has been with Petersen for over 22 years and was most recently vice president and executive publisher for the group.

Mark Winkler has been named vice president of MediaOne’s advertising sales group. His previous position was director of advertising sales for the broadband services arm of MediaOne Group. Prior to joining MediaOne, Winkler was general sales manager for Lambert Television in Las Vegas.

Personnel

Patrick Henry has joined the Los Angeles office of IMCOR as managing director of the Western region. Previously, Henry headed new-business development functions for ad agencies Bozell Worldwide and Muse Cordero Chen.

Karin Richmond has been promoted to division director at the Los Angeles office of Accountemps. Richmond joined the company in 1997 and has seven years experience in advertising.

Public Relations

Cameron Andrews and Stacy Gold have joined the Blaze Co. as senior account supervisor and account executive, respectively. Andrews will be responsible for strategic planning and implementation of client programs, as well as daily supervision of executive staff. He was most recently advertising and communications manager for Harrah’s Las Vegas. Gold will be responsible for the day-to-day execution of account activities. She also comes from Harrah’s Las Vegas, where she coordinated internal communications and media relations.

Real Estate

Michael D Foxworthy Jr. has joined the Ventura office of Daum Commercial Real Estate Services as an office services group specialist. He will broker office sales and leases in the Conejo Valley and west Ventura County. Most recently, Foxworthy was with Charles Dunn Co.

Carol Fredholm and Kathryn Welch Howe have joined Sedway Group as principals in the company’s new Los Angeles office. Most recently, Fredholm was project manager, joint development with the MTA in Los Angeles. Welch Howe’s responsibilities will include urban revitalization projects, market and project feasibility analyses and business development. Previously, Welch Howe was a vice president in the banking division of the real estate department at Goldman, Sachs & Co.

David Newsome has been appointed vice president of development at Center Trust. His responsibilities will include portfolio redevelopment and creating new development opportunities for shareholders. Newsome was formerly a vice president at Uhlmann Offices Inc.
