Robert Brown has been named vice president of creative services at Baxter Gurian & Mazzei Inc., an agency which specializes in medical and health care marketing communications. He will work out of the agency’s Los Angeles office.

Banking & Finance

Terri Stidd has been named assistant vice president and corporate staffing officer at Imperial Bank’s Los Angeles regional office. In her new position, Stidd will be responsible for employment, employee relations and compliance reporting. She will also continue to function as the bank’s affirmative action officer.

Engineering

Gary Dysart has joined Santa Monica-based Psomas and Associates as vice president, director of public works consulting. Dysart will oversee engineering and management services to public works organizations. Prior to joining the company, he headed his own firm, Dysart Consulting. Some services Psomas provides include land development, water resources and surveying.

Walter Quesada has been named manager of the Los Angeles office of HDR Engineering Inc., as well as director of transportation for the company’s Southern California region. Quesada is a civil engineer who has worked in highway design and construction. The company provides water, transportation, waste and energy services.

Matthew M. Sweeney has been named associate principal at the architecture/engineering firm of Daniel, Mann, Johnson & Mendenhall. Sweeney will be based in the company’s Los Angeles headquarters. Projects to be managed by Sweeney include highways, railroads and airports.

Entertainment/Media

Bill Niles has joined digital studio POP as executive vice president, business development and general counsel. Prior to joining the company, he was a legal partner at Stein and Kaan.

Santa Monica-based Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. has named Garret G. Gerlich, Jeffrey A. Coleman and Jay Fukuto senior vice presidents. Gerlich will supervise all post-production activities for the company’s two film units: MGM Pictures and United Artists Pictures. Before joining the company, he served as senior vice president of post production at Twentieth Century Fox. Coleman will oversee the administration of all aspects of physical production for MGM’s and United Artists’ theatrical releases. He previously was vice president of production at MGM, a position he had held since 1994. Fukuto will oversee all development and production in animation, including TV series, direct-to-video projects and feature films. He joins MGM from Walt Disney Television Animation, where he most recently served as vice president of current programming.

Nan Morales has been promoted to vice president, feature production management for the Motion Picture Group of Paramount Pictures. Morales will oversee budgeting and scheduling of all assigned motion pictures at the Hollywood-based studio, as well as supervising and negotiating on behalf of the studio for key crew, office and stage facilities, and equipment from pre-production through principal photography. Prior to her promotion, she was a production management executive.

Pauline Bohm has been promoted to vice president of worldwide marketing at Pearson Television. Bohm will be based in the company’s Los Angeles office. She will oversee development of international marketing campaigns for the company’s film and television programming library. Prior to joining the company, she served as executive account director for NBC’s print advertising division.

Louis M. Phillips has been named vice president of production administration at Jim Henson Pictures. Phillips will oversee the day-to-day aspects of production and will work out of the company’s Hollywood studios. Prior to joining the company, he was a production executive at Paramount Pictures.

Health Care

Cynthia D. Trousdale has been named chief financial officer of Huntington East Valley Hospital. Trousdale previously served as interim chief financial officer at Centinela Hospital Medical Center.

Legal

Hillary S. Bibicoff and Ellen C. Waggoner have joined the Los Angeles-based law firm of Greenberg Glusker Fields Claman & Machtinger LLP as associates in the firm’s transactional entertainment department. In their new positions, both will handle motion picture, television and related transactional work. Bibicoff joins the company from Rysher Entertainment, where she served as vice president of theatrical business and legal affairs. Waggoner previously was an associate with Latham & Watkins, where she practiced primarily in the corporate field.

Dave Charest has been named senior manager for Grant Thorton LLP’s management consulting practice. Charest will work out of the firm’s Los Angeles, Irvine and Woodland Hills offices, and will work within the company’s Information Technology practice.

The law firm of Frandzel & Share has announced that head of the litigation group Tom Robins, senior member Robert B. Kaplan and managing partner Steven N. Bloom have been promoted to nameplate partners. Effective Aug. 1, the firm will be known as Frandzel Share Robins Kaplan & Bloom. In addition, two new partners, Philip Kramer and Andrew Alper, have joined the firm. Kramer will head the firm’s new franchise practice. Alper will work in litigation, specializing in creditors’ rights. Also, Gary Caris, an attorney at the firm, has been named head of the firm’s bankruptcy department.

Manufacturing

Kim A. Caldwell has been promoted to executive vice president of global technology and new business development at Avery Dennison Corp., which specializes in various label products. He will be based at the company’s corporate headquarters in Pasadena. Caldwell will be responsible for the strategies and operations of the company’s materials businesses in Asia Pacific and Latin America, as well as its Advanced Concepts and Products, ventures and specialty businesses. He previously was senior group vice president, Americas and Asia.

Real Estate

Daniel Miller has joined Capital Commercial/New America Network’s Los Angeles office as a senior associate. In his new role, Miller will specialize in tenant representation for office and retail property leasing, and investment sales. In the five years prior to joining the company, Miller worked at Team Realty Inc., specializing in tenant representation.

Tourism

Robert Barrett has been promoted to associate vice president of cultural tourism at the Los Angeles Convention & Visitors Bureau. Barrett formerly was director of cultural tourism for the bureau. Prior to that, he had served as director/chief curator of the Fresno Art Museum for 14 years.
