M1 Agency has named Tracey Kleber managing director. Prior to joining the agency, Kleber worked as management supervisor with Publicis in Seattle.

Banking

Michelle Esser joined Wescom Credit Union as vice president of human resources. She was previously vice president, senior product manager at Union Bank of California.

Design

Chase Design Group appointed Raulee Marcus strategic consultant. She has held executive positions with Colgate-Palmolive, Gillette, Neutrogena, Armour Food Co., Dial Co., Playtex, Levi-Strauss and Hearst Enterprises.

Entertainment

Universal Domestic Television has promoted Bruce Casino to senior vice president, cable network and ancillary sales. He will oversee sales at the studio’s film and television library.

Vince Marchica has been named vice president creative at DIC Entertainment Corp.’s consumer products unit. He will oversee creative development of the company’s licensing and merchandising efforts. DIC also promoted Cindy Davis to vice president of domestic licensing and promoted Ryan Gagerman to executive director international licensing.

Warner Bros. Television has promoted Beverly Metoyer to senior vice president of human resources. She has been with the company since 1989.

Government

Kim Day was appointed interim executive director of Los Angeles World Airports. Day had been deputy executive director responsible for facility and space planning, design, engineering and construction and maintenance since 1999.

Armen Ross has been appointed director of homeless services in Los Angeles Mayor James Hahn’s office of economic development. Ross previously served as assistant chief of staff to former City Councilman Nate Holden.

Health Care

American Heart Association, Los Angeles County named Peter D. Kelly III chairman-elect. Prior to his appointment, Kelly chaired the association’s Los Angeles County legislative committee. Kelly is managing partner of law firm Kelly Lytton & Vann LLP.

Medsn Inc. appointed Robert J. Glaser to the company’s board. He recently joined Ancillary Care Management as executive vice president of sales and marketing.

John H. Quinn was named president of the Verdugo Hills Hospital Foundation, responsible for all fundraising activities. A 30-year banking industry veteran, Quinn previously served as president and chief executive of Childrens Hospital Los Angeles Foundation.

Law

Jean M. Lawler is president-elect of the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel. Lawler is a senior partner at Murchison & Cumming LLP.

Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP announced that Victoria Spang has joined as chief marketing officer. Spang comes from the San Francisco office of Bingham McCutchen LLP, where she was director of business development.

Media

KCBS-TV (Channel 2) hired Paul Magers to anchor the weekday editions of CBS2 News at 11 p.m., as well as early evening newscasts. Magers was previously at KARE-TV in Minnesota where he anchored evening newscasts.

Pam Schoen has been promoted to on-air senior producer at KTLA (Channel 5). She was previously on-air writer/producer at the station.

Mark Kolpack has been appointed as visual effects supervisor/producer at Post Group Inc. Kolpack joins the company from PERFX Inc., a visual effects company he opened in 1995.

Non-Profit

Students Run L.A., which trains at-risk students to run the L.A. Marathon, named Mark Shinderman, a partner at Munger Tolles & Olson, president of its board.

Warren Cooley has been named assistant director of the North Los Angeles Small Business Development Center. Cooley was previously satellite manager for the Gold Coast SBDC in Ventura.

Retail

Vans Inc. appointed Scott J. Blechman chief financial officer. Blechman, a certified public accountant, has served as vice president of finance at Vans since July 2001 and controller since September 2002. He was formerly vice president and corporate controller of Castle & Cooke.

K-Swiss Inc. appointed Mark L. Louie to the board. Louie is a managing member and chief financial officer of TechFund Capital.
