Dr. Dre is a music mogul and hip-hop artist. His career in the music industry is the subject of HBO music documentary “The Defiant Ones.” A native of Compton, he recently donated $10 million to the city’s high school and contributed to a $70 million endowment to create the USC Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation. In 2014 Apple paid $3 billion to purchase Beats Electronics, a company Young co-founded with record producer Iovine in 2008, debuting with Beats by Dr. Dre Studio headphones. Young at one time co-owned hip-hop music label Death Row Records, and later started Aftermath Entertainment, producing top artists such as Snoop Dogg and Eminem.
