Flower Drum Song:

The Mark Taper Forum is presenting a revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s unforgettable musical “Flower Drum Song.” It runs through Dec. 2. The musical premieres a new book written by Tony Award-winning playwright David Hwang, who wrote M. Butterfly. “Flower Drum Song” is the story of a young Chinese woman who emigrates to San Francisco’s Chinatown and falls in love. Pasadena Symphony:

The 74th annual season opens Oct. 20 with the semi-staged performance of Mendelssohn’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Actor John de Lancie has written an original script based on Shakespeare’s comedy. L.A. Architecture:

Get an inside look at some of the innovative architectural projects scheduled for L.A. at the Geffen Contemporary in downtown L.A. The exhibit, called “What’s Shakin’: New Architecture in L.A.,” can be viewed until Jan. 20. It features eight institutional, commercial and public projects under construction. Latin Jazz:

Eddie Palmieri will be appearing at the Conga Room for three nights from Oct. 10 through Oct. 12. Palmieri’s musical career has spanned 37 years as a bandleader of salsa and Latin jazz orchestras. He’s made more than 30 albums. Born in Spanish Harlem in 1936, Palmieri began piano studies at an early age, as did his celebrated older brother, the late salsa legend and pianist Charlie Palmieri.
