Los Angeles Business Journal Women’s Council: Women Leading the Way: Volunteer Award WINNER – DORENE DOMINGUEZ

Dorene Dominguez

Chairman & CEO

Vanir Group of Companies, Inc.

Dorene Dominguez is the Chairwoman and CEO of Vanir Group of Companies, Inc., national leaders in program, project and construction management and real estate development. In addition to her leadership of the Vanir companies, Dominguez serves or has served on various corporate boards of publicly traded companies. Currently, she is a director on the CIT Group and CIT Bank NA boards, the KB Home board, and is a member of the nominating and corporate governance committee for each company. She is also an active member of the Coca-Cola Hispanic Advisory Council. Composed of distinguished national leaders in the Latino community, the Council advises Coca-Cola senior management on various issues related to its business operations as they impact the Hispanic community.

Dominguez is also part of the ownership group that aggressively pursued and ultimately purchased the NBA’s Sacramento Kings in a successful effort to keep the team in California’s capital city.

Her philanthropic activities are many and varied, but perhaps none is more important than Dominguez’s long term commitment to helping others achieve the American Dream by working with and inspiring underserved elementary and high school students that aspire to attend Universities that may seem to be out their reach. Dominguez founded The Dominguez Dream, a foundation in memory of her late father, which serves elementary schools in underserved communities by empowering children to achieve their full potential in Literacy and S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math). Through this twelve-year concerted effort of implementing fifteen essential programs in seven partner schools, The Dominguez Dream has served over thirty-five hundred students.
