Greg Peterson has been named L.A. metro market leader of Mutual of Omaha Bank. Peterson was previously senior vice president for CB Richard Ellis subsidiary Trammell Crow Co., a real estate development and investment firm.

Charles C. Kwak has been appointed to the board of Hanmi Financial Corp. Previously, Kwak was professor of law at Handong Global University in Pohang, South Korea.

Kinecta Federal Credit Union has promoted Sam Oriel to vice president of the Nix Check Cashing unit of Kinecta Alternative Financial Solutions. Oriel was previously director with Kinecta.


MBI Media, a Covina-based communications company, has hired Jim Hattendorf as vice president of operations, and has promoted Chris Michel to vice president of administration and finance. Previously, Hattendorf was assistant news director at KCBS/KCAL-TV. Michel was office manager at MBI Media.

Otis College of Art and Design in Westchester has elected Thomas R. Miller to its board. Miller is executive vice president of marketing at Beverly Hills-based City National Corp.


Anthony E. Scott has been appointed to the national board of City of Hope in Duarte. Scott is corporate vice president and chief information officer of Microsoft Corp.


Pom & Associates Insurance Brokers Inc. in Woodland Hills has named David Beeton account executive and Gregg Carpenter senior vice president for preferred client insurance services group. Beeton was previously risk consultant for the private client services group at Marsh & McLennan Agency, an insurance broker and risk adviser. Carpenter served as west zone leader at Marsh & McLennan Agency.

Colin Baird has joined the Pasadena office of SullivanCurtisMonroe Insurance Services, an insurance and risk management services company, as vice president. Baird was previously broker at Walter Mortensen Insurance, a Bakersfield-based insurance company.

Dykema, a Detroit-headquartered law firm, has named Thomas F. Hanley III member of the real estate practice group in its downtown L.A. office. Hanley was previously partner at Freeman Freeman & Smiley LLP, a Southern California law firm with offices in Mar Vista and Irvine.

Steven O. Kramer has joined Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP, a downtown L.A.-headquartered law firm, as partner in the firm's business trial practice group. Previously, Kramer was partner in the downtown L.A. office of Mayer Brown.

Bryan Cave LLP, a St. Louis-based law firm, has named Douglas Thompson partner in its Santa Monica office. Thompson was previously managing director and general counsel of litigation at Countrywide Financial Corp.

Dohring Co., a Glendale-based market research firm, has named Thyra Lees-Smith vice president of business development and Rick Wilson chief operations officer. Lees-Smith was previously director of sales for GMI, a market research firm in Bellevue, Wash. Wilson was chief operations officer for Worldwide Panel Inc., a Calabasas market research company.


The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce has honored Carol Rowen with the Stanley T. Olafson award for her contribution to the advancement of world trade. Rowen is founder and chief executive of International Trade Education Programs Inc., a Glendale-based organization that introduces high school students to careers in maritime trade, transportation and logistics.
