Kite has joined the downtown L.A. office of Harley Ellis Devereaux, a Detroit-based architecture and engineering firm, as director of the firm's corporate and commercial practices in the west region. Kite was previously vice president and managing principal in the downtown L.A. office of Leo A Daly, an Omaha, Neb.-based architecture firm.

Ruben Insurance Services Inc., a Westwood insurance company specializing in the TV and film industries, has named Fred Milstein managing director of worldwide marketing and business development. Previously, Milstein was chief executive of CineFinance, a completion guarantee business servicing the TV and film industries.
The Colburn School, a performing arts school in downtown Los Angeles, has named Sel Kardan chief executive, Wendy Kelman chairwoman, and David N. Barry, Christiane Cuse, Hershey Felder and Thomas D. Leddy board members. Previously, Kardan was chief executive of the Music Institute of Chicago. Kelman was co-founder of cancer treatment facility Oncology Institutes. Barry was vice president at Southern California Edison. Cuse is a philanthropist. Felder is president of music production company Eighty-Eight Entertainment. Leddy is a retired accountant.
Pepperdine University in Malibu has named Michelle Hiepler, Dennis Lewis and Danny Phillips to the board of regents. Hiepler is a partner at the Law Offices of Hiepler & Hiepler in Oxnard. Lewis is chief executive of WorldTravelServices, an online travel management company. Phillips is an accountant at Condley & Co. in Abilene, Texas.
Michelle Stiles has been promoted to associate dean for administration of UCLA Extension in Westwood. Previously, Stiles was director of budget and financial services.
The Art Center College of Design in Pasadena has appointed Lorne M. Buchman chief executive. Buchman is a principal and founder of Buchman Associates, a private consulting firm focused on identifying philanthropic and private investment sources to develop facilities for non-profit organizations.
Universal City movie production company Valhalla Motion Pictures has named Wendy Japhet president and Anne Teixeira creative executive. Previously, Japhet was president of production and development at Endgame Entertainment, a Beverly Hills production company. Teixeira was a production executive at Endgame.
Abraxis BioScience Inc., a West L.A.-based pharmaceutical firm, has named Mary Lynne Hedley chief scientific officer and Rick Rodgers chief financial officer. Arkatov is president of Changing.edu, an organization that designs educational systems. Leavenworth is west regional vice president of governmental affairs for Time Warner Cable. Stephan is senior managing director overseeing West Coast properties for the Clarett Group, a New York-based real estate developer. The American Judicature Society, a non-profit organization in Des Moines, Iowa, that advocates for judicial reform, has named Carole Wagner Vallianos president. Wagner Vallianos is chief executive of the Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance.
