Parsons Corp., a Pasadena-headquartered engineering and construction firm, has appointed Charles L. Harrington chairman. Harrington was previously chief executive with the firm.

Ron Tataki has been promoted to department manager in the downtown Los Angeles office of Gafcon Inc., a San Diego-based construction management firm. Tataki was previously senior project manager with the firm.


The downtown Los Angeles office of Protiviti Inc., a business consulting and internal audit firm, has promoted Steven La France to director. La France was previously associate director with the firm.


Keith Allen-Niesen has been appointed to the executive committee of the board for USC's Lusk Center for Real Estate. Allen-Niesen is a partner in the West Los Angeles office of law and consulting firm Manatt Phelps & Phillips LLP.


Film Roman, a Burbank-headquartered animation company, has promoted Jay Fukuto to head of the studio. Fukuto was previously head of production for the company.

Amy Zimmerman & Associates Inc., a Torrance-based staffing firm, has appointed Natalie Balin career manager. Balin was previously an auditor with PricewaterhouseCoopers.


Farmers Group Inc., a Hancock Park-based insurance group, has promoted Paul Hopkins to chairman and Bob Woudstra to chief executive. Hopkins was previously chief executive with the company. Woudstra was president and chief operating officer.


Adam Dombchik has been appointed president of the California Applicants' Attorneys Association for 2009. Dombchik is a partner at Gordon Edelstein Krepack Grant Felton & Goldstein, a Koreatown-based personal injury and workers' compensation firm.

Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, a Denver-based law firm, has hired Kari Nieblas Vozenilek as associate in its West Los Angeles office. Vozenilek was formerly an associate at Jackson DeMarco Tidus & Peckenpaugh, an Irvine law firm.

Alston & Bird, an Atlanta-based law firm, has named Thomas Wingard partner-in-charge of the downtown Los Angeles and Westlake Village offices. Wingard was previously partner with the firm's downtown L.A. office.

Marketing, a downtown Los Angeles online marketing company, has named Lawrence Ng chairman and Jeff Kupietzky president. Ng is co-founder of the company. Kupietzky was previously executive vice president.


KCET, Public Broadcasting Service's L.A. member station, has promoted Karen Hunte to vice president of program planning and development, Bret Marcus to senior vice president of programming and production, Mary Mazur to executive vice president and chief content officer, and Bohdan Zachary to vice president of broadcasting and syndication. Hunte was previously executive producer for the network's "Tavis Smiley" program. Marcus was vice president of programming, production and publicity. Mazur was executive vice president of programming and production. Zachary was executive director of broadcast and special projects.

The Los Angeles office of Cannella Response Television, a direct-response media planning and buying company headquartered in Burlington, Wis., has promoted Susan Kreminski to media buyer and Louis Tasso to media coordinator. Kreminski was previously media assistant. Tasso was senior media assistant.

Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services has named Kevin King first vice president of investments in its Long Beach office. King was previously vice president of investments with the firm.

Hans Mumper has joined the downtown L.A. office of Grubb & Ellis Co., a real estate services and investment firm, as senior vice president and director of management services for Southern California. Previously, Mumper was senior vice president with BentleyForbes, a Century City commercial real estate company.


Leon Kuperman has been appointed president of Inc., a Culver City-based online jewelry retailer. Kuperman was previously chief technology officer and vice president of business development with the company.

Taryn Rose International, a Culver City-based footwear company, has appointed Robert Meers chief executive. Meers was previously chief executive of Lululemon Athletica, a yoga-focused athletic apparel company in Vancouver, Canada.

Shopping mall Beverly Center has named Susan Vance marketing and sponsorship director. Vance previously served as marketing director at St. John Knits Inc., a luxury women's clothing company headquartered in Irvine.


Guidance Software, a Pasadena-headquartered technology company, has named Barry J. Plaga chief financial officer. Plaga was previously vice president of financial global processes at Sun Microsystems Inc., a Santa Clara-based technology company.


Arthur M. Coppola has given $2.5 million to City of Hope's department of supportive care medicine. Coppola is chairman and chief executive of the Macerich Co., a Santa Monica-based real estate investment company specializing in the acquisition and development of shopping centers.
