Karen Mamont has been named executive director of marketing at CaliforniaMart, an apparel, textile and accessory mart in Los Angeles. She will oversee all marketing, advertising and public relations. Mamont was previously show producer and special events coordinator.

Architecture

Stephen B. Straughan was promoted to partner at Kirkpatrick Associates Architects in Santa Monica. He will be responsible for project management along with new project and business development. Straughan was previously a senior associate.

Banking & Finance

Alan K. Bonde has been named president at Wilmington Trust of California, a wealth management company in Santa Monica. He will oversee a staff of eight and will be the liaison between Wilmington Trust and Roxbury Capital Management. Bonde was previously senior vice president at Fiduciary Trust Co. International.

Anne Franklin has been named vice president of human resources at SunAmerica Inc., a financial services company in Los Angeles. She will oversee recruiting, benefits and compensation, employee relations and organizational training and development. Franklin was most recently a vice president at Union Pacific Resources. Also, Chris Nixon and Larry Goldman have each been promoted to vice president and co-general counsel. They will jointly oversee legal and regulatory affairs. Nixon will handle the legal aspects of the variable annuity business and the activities of broker-dealers. Goldman will be responsible for legal aspects of regulatory affairs as well as investment and wholesale funding activities. Both were previously associate counsels.

Thomas Miller has been named executive vice president and director of marketing at City National Bank in Los Angeles. He is responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies. Miller was previously an executive vice president and general manager at FCB Worldwide.

Donald L. Solsby has been named South Bay regional vice president at Mellon 1st Business Bank in Torrance. He will oversee the South Bay regional office, along with development and implementation of strategic growth. Solsby was previously president and chief executive of Pacific National Bank.

Gregory G. Zappas has been promoted to senior vice president of the Los Angeles office of U.S. Trust Co. He will be responsible for developing the wealth management business in Southern California and dealing with client relationships. Zappas was previously a vice president and senior relationship manager at Banker's Trust Co.

Education

Marvin Martinez has been named associate vice president of planning and development at Santa Monica College. He will be responsible for government relations and affairs, institutional research, accreditation and grants. Martinez was previously dean of business and industry.

Entertainment

Jeff Farnath has been appointed chief financial officer at Will Vinton Studios, a dimensional animation studio in Los Angeles. He will oversee the development of existing activities into film, television, commercials, the Internet and other forms of interactive programming. Farnath was previously senior vice president of business development and chief financial officer at Walt Disney Feature Animation and Walt Disney Theatrical Productions.

High Tech

Steve Brown has been named vice president of engineering at WebVision Inc., an e-business solutions provider in Torrance. He will oversee production, engineering, and research and development activities. Brown was most recently a principal at Syllogistics.

Paul Schiada has been named vice president and general counsel at DES, a media technology solutions company in Los Angeles. He will oversee corporate structuring, acquisitions and mergers, regulatory compliance and contracts. Schiada was most recently a senior vice president and senior corporate counsel at divine interVentures Inc. In addition, Vicky Warren was appointed senior vice president and chief product development officer. She will oversee day-to-day strategic planning, and digital technology and applications design. Warren was most recently director of technology at Disney TeleVentures. Also, Mark Lanphear was named vice president of content distribution solutions. He will oversee day-to-day business development activities and manage product development. Lanphear was previously director of business development at Boston Communications Group Inc.

Marketing

Susan Hall has been named vice president and director of finance at Pittard Sullivan, an entertainment marketing communications company in Culver City. She will oversee all financial matters. Hall was most recently Southern California office administrator at McDermott, Will & Emery.

New Media

Deborah Blackwell has been appointed senior vice president of media and entertainment at Guidance, an online business developer in Marina del Rey. She will oversee all operations of the new media and entertainment group. Blackwell was most recently a vice president at the William Morris Agency.

Bob Lasiewicz has been named vice president of sales at Creative Planet, a provider of technology solutions and online resources for the media production industry in Los Angeles. He will oversee promotional opportunities, education and trade groups, along with being responsible for creating educational events and developing marketplace tools. Lasiewicz was previously president of Media Infosystems Inc.

Real Estate

Craig C. Camp has been named chief operating officer at American Realty Advisors in Glendale. He will oversee day-to-day operations. Camp was most recently chief financial officer and chief operating officer at Alfigen Inc. Also, Scott Oeser was named investment analyst. He will be responsible for financial analysis and asset management. Oeser was previously asset manager/property manager at Shuwa Investments Corp.

Brian T. Campbell has been appointed senior vice president at Colliers Seeley, a commercial real estate firm in Los Angeles. He specializes in international real estate. Campbell was previously president at IREG Inc.

George Garvin has been promoted to vice president at Grubb & Ellis Co. in Los Angeles. He specializes in Southern California retail investment properties. Garvin was previously an associate vice president.

Restaurants

Luther Kwok has been promoted to concept manager at Panda Inn Restaurants in South Pasadena. He will oversee all operations of Southern California restaurants and will be responsible for guiding concept growth and refinement. Kwok was previously regional director.

Transportation

Tracy Daly has been named assistant executive officer at the Southern California Regional Rail Authority in Los Angeles. She will oversee day-to-day policy direction for administrative services, contracts, claims, railroad services and information services. Daly was previously assistant general manager of SunLine Transit.
