Netflix is adding more episodes of TV shows from Disney-ABC Television Group to its growing library of TV content.
Netflix announced Wednesday a new licensing agreement that adds many more episodes from such ABC network shows as “Desperate Housewives” and “Lost.” The deal also adds episodes from shows not previously available for streaming, including “Brothers & Sisters,” “Ugly Betty,” and “Reaper.”
Netflix is heavily focused on its video-streaming service, which is used more often by the company’s millions of subscribers than the rent-by-mail move service that launched the company. Netflix is adding episodes from hit TV shows faster than recent hit movies from Hollywood. Rights to the latter are more difficult to obtain, because studios prefer to wait until the movies have run their course in the more lucrative DVD market.
