Faraday Future Intelligent Electric Inc., the Los Angeles-based electric vehicle manufacturer, is filling out the supply network for its flagship model.
The company has tapped Brembo as the supplier of full brake caliper assemblies for its upcoming FF 91 electric vehicle, according to an April 25 announcement.

“Brembo, a world leader in braking systems, perfectly complements the requirements of an ultra-premium EV such as the FF 91,” said Faraday Future Chief Executive Carsten Breitfeld in a statement. “High-performance braking will ensure driver confidence on the road and this partnership adds to the slate of premium suppliers that are part of the FF 91 production.”

The FF 91 is designed and built in California. Faraday Future plans to launch the model — its first flagship product — in the third quarter of this year. The car was originally scheduled to ship in 2018. The company has not announced a price, but the FF 91 is designed as a luxury vehicle and executives in the past have pegged the number in six figures.
Brembo will provide a specialized caliper assembly for the FF 91, which will include pistons, calipers and pads, along with the electronic parking brake. The system is constructed with six-piston cast aluminum front calipers and four-piston cast aluminum rear calipers designed to provide solid and consistent brake performance under all conditions.

According to Faraday Future, its partnership with Brembo will ensure high-quality performance for the vehicle, along with a safer vehicle experience for the car’s driver and passengers.
Faraday Future said it has pioneered numerous innovations relating to its products, technology and business model since its inception in 2014. A company statement said that Faraday Future aims to perpetually improve the way people move by creating a forward-thinking mobility ecosystem that integrates clean energy, AI, the Internet and new usership models.

Based in Curno, Italy, Brembo supplies high performance brake systems for manufacturers of cars, commercial vehicles and motorbikes worldwide, as well as clutches and other components for racing vehicles. The company has won more than 500 racing championships. It operates in 15 countries with 29 production and business sites, and a pool of more than 12,200 employees, about 10% of whom are engineers and product specialists active in R&D.
