Before being named co-president and general manager of Los Angeles Football Club in 2021, John Thorrington served as the club’s first executive vice president of soccer operations and general manager starting in 2015. Under his leadership, LAFC has enjoyed tremendous success since joining MLS as an expansion club in 2018. In its second season in the league, LAFC won the Supporters Shield as the club with the best regular-season record. In 2022, LAFC again won the Supporters Shield and captured its first MLS Cup trophy. In 2024, Thorrington was named MLS Sporting Executive of the Year. Prior to joining LAFC’s executive ranks, Thorrington had a 17-year playing career, including stints in Europe and MLS.
